Panelogue is a local-first application. Your scripts stay on your machine — we don't upload your work, we don't read your files, and we don't sell your data. The only personal information we collect is your email address — if you join the waitlist, or when you buy a license (handled by our payment provider). The app itself includes anonymous, opt-out usage analytics and crash reports — never the content of your scripts, and nothing that identifies you — which you can turn off at any time in Settings → Privacy.
Panelogue is developed and published by Codewink Labs ("Codewink Labs," "we," "our," or "us"), and Codewink Labs is the data controller responsible for the limited personal data described here. Our contact email is support@getpanelogue.com. Panelogue is a local-first desktop application: your scripts and creative work stay on your own machine and are never uploaded to us.
Waitlist email addresses. If you submit your email on GetPanelogue.com to join the early access waitlist, we store that address for the purpose of sending you early access invitations and product updates. We do not share it with third parties for marketing purposes.
Anonymous usage analytics (opt-out). The Panelogue desktop app (macOS and Windows) includes privacy-respecting product analytics, processed through Sentry (the same service that handles crash reports), so we can understand which features are used and where new users get stuck. What is sent is limited to anonymous event names and a few non-identifying properties (for example, that an export happened and its format). We never send the content of your scripts, character names, notes, world-building entries, or file paths — and we never collect your name, email, or IP address; identifying metadata is disabled and scrubbed before anything is sent. The app shows a notice about this on first launch, and you can opt out completely at any time in Settings → Privacy, separately from crash reports. When analytics are off, nothing leaves your machine. The app does not require an account.
Crash and error reports (opt-out). To fix problems quickly — especially during early access — the app can send anonymous crash and error reports through Sentry. A report contains the error type, a stack trace, and basic technical context (app version, operating system) — enough to locate the bug. It never includes the content of your scripts, your file paths, or anything that identifies you. You can turn crash reports off at any time in Settings → Privacy, separately from usage analytics. Regardless of this setting, a copy of recent errors is always kept in a local log file on your own computer (~/.panelogue-errors.log) that you can attach when you contact support.
Purchase information. If you buy a license, the purchase is processed by our payment provider, Lemon Squeezy, which also issues your license/serial key. Lemon Squeezy handles your payment details under its own privacy policy; we do not receive or store your full card number. We do receive order information — such as your email address and license key — so we can deliver your license and provide support.
Unanswered help-box questions. If you use the "Ask Panelogue" help box on this website and it has no saved answer for your question, the text of that question is sent to our own server so we can improve the FAQ. We store only the question text and a timestamp — no name, email, IP address, or other identifier — and we never log questions that already match an answer. If you'd rather not send anything, don't type into the help box.
Where the EU or UK GDPR applies, we rely on the following legal bases: your consent for the opt-out usage analytics and crash reports (which you can withdraw at any time in Settings → Privacy) and for waitlist emails; performance of a contract to deliver a license you purchase and provide support; and our legitimate interests in keeping the website secure and improving our FAQ, balanced against your rights. We do not carry out automated decision-making or profiling.
Scripts are saved as .pnlg files to your local filesystem in a location you choose. Panelogue does not access, read, copy, or upload these files. All processing (auto-numbering, Cast scanning, World Building sync, export rendering) happens entirely on your machine.
Reference images you pin to characters or pages in Page Map are stored as local file paths. Those files remain on your machine and are never transmitted.
GetPanelogue.com is a static website. We do not use cookies for tracking, advertising, or third-party analytics, and the site makes no third-party requests — fonts, images, and all other assets are self-hosted and served directly from our own domain, so your browser never contacts an external provider while loading the site. For full detail, see our Cookie Policy.
Note that the anonymous, opt-out usage analytics described above apply to the desktop app, not the website — and they do not use cookies.
If you join the waitlist, you may receive:
You can unsubscribe at any time by replying to any email or contacting us at support@getpanelogue.com. We will remove your address promptly.
We use a small number of service providers to run Panelogue, each receiving only what its job requires:
These providers process data on servers in the United States. If you use Panelogue from outside the US (including the EU/EEA, UK, or Switzerland), the limited data described in this policy is transferred to and processed in the US. We only work with providers that commit to appropriate safeguards for such transfers, and the diagnostics we send are engineered to be anonymous before they ever leave your machine.
We retain waitlist email addresses until you unsubscribe or request deletion. If the waitlist closes or the product launches, we will notify waitlist members and provide options to continue receiving communications or be removed.
Anonymous diagnostics (usage events and crash reports) are retained in Sentry for its standard rolling window (approximately 90 days) and then deleted automatically. Unanswered help-box questions are kept only as long as needed to improve the FAQ and are then deleted.
You can request to view, correct, or delete any personal data we hold about you at any time. Email us at support@getpanelogue.com and we will respond within 14 days.
Depending on where you live, you may have additional rights under laws such as the EU/UK GDPR or the California Consumer Privacy Act — including the rights to access, correct, delete, or receive a copy of your personal data, to object to or restrict certain processing, and to lodge a complaint with your local supervisory authority. We honor these requests regardless of where you live, using the contact above. We do not sell personal information, and we do not share it for cross-context behavioral advertising.
Note that the diagnostics described above are anonymous by design — they are not linked to your name or email, so in most cases we cannot associate a specific diagnostic event with you even on request. Opting out in Settings → Privacy stops them entirely.
Panelogue is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 13. If you believe we have inadvertently done so, contact us and we will delete it immediately.
If we make material changes to this privacy policy, we will update the date at the top of this page and notify waitlist members by email. Continued use of the waitlist or the app after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
